Members of the community were all invited to wear old clothes, bring empty bottles, chopping boards, knives, rubber gloves and lots of elbow grease to help with pressing apples last weekend.

Storm Amy helped loosen the apples at a beautifully productive local orchard and many hands made light work – washing, chopping, mashing (scratting!) and pressing – to produce gallons and gallons of delicious, fresh apple juice. And all of the mashed apple waste went on the compost heap.

The activity covered 3 of the Greening Campaign pillars – Cycle of the seed, Space for Nature and Waste Prevention. Well done team!
