What a fantastic day this was as Greening Ringwood showed other residents all the wonderful projects their 5 new Teams are are working on!
There were lots of interactive stalls
Music – with choirs from Sopley and Burley Primary Schools, Poulner Junior School, Sing for Joy – Ringwood Community Choir, Ringwood community singers and others
Cycle of the Seed – showing how you can grow enough vegetables in your own garden in just one square metre for a family of 4 – come and learn more about composting too
Space for Nature – giving tips on how to attract more wildlife and increase biodiversity in your own garden – hedgehogs, bees, butterflies, birds including swifts, bugs, toads/frogs, as well as lots of beautiful wildflowers
Waste Prevention – Love Food Hate Waste display from the Smart Living Team at Hampshire County Council as well as a Waste Prevention Trail around Ringwood with stickers and sweets when people collected all the letters from the ‘Tick’ signs around town!!
Energy Efficient Homes – their volunteers showed how they can help residents with thermal images of their home in the Autumn to make their home warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer
Health Impacts of Climate Change – help raise awareness of what is happening as our climate changes, and how we can be better prepared – particularly focusing on giving you information on those pesky Ticks that carry Lyme and other diseases!
They also invited other residents to join them when they all sang their Greening Ringwood call to arms – STAND BY ME at 12 noon.
This short film sums the event up beautifully.
