Spring is the perfect time to get out into the garden or community growing space and our greening groups have been doing just that!
They have been preparing the ground in their community growing spaces, building compost bins, sowing seeds, swapping seeds, planting seedlings, planting herb foraging beds, gathering plants for the space for nature areas and even creating bug hotels!
All of these actions lessen the impact on the environment – through growing their own food it reduces food miles, avoids packaging, cuts out the use of pesticides and can build soil health by composting. These actions also boost biodiversity by making space for nature and create new habitats. Involvement in these activities also develops new skills, enhances the local area and builds a stronger community.
We are so impressed by the work that the greening communities are doing. We look forward to seeing what they grow!
