As part of their Launch week, Greening Shedfield Parish were promoting all of the exciting projects they have planned locally.
One of the activities as part of the Launch programme was planting trees on their local common and Waltham Chase recreation ground. This was a brilliant opportunity to bring willing volunteers from the community together to help with the planting, provide a connection with nature, increase biodiversity and support wildlife. It also looked like a lot of fun!
In total, the volunteers planted 550 trees in Waltham Chase and 450 on Shedfield Common. The trees were a mixture of Blackthorn, Dog Rose, Crab Apple, Beech, Copper Beech, Wild Cherry, Privet and White Beam – just brilliant!
Planting trees is not only a great way to encourage community engagement, it also develops a sense of responsibility and pride among local residents, plus it helps create a sustainable future.
Well done Greening Shedfield Parish!
